Prescott Courier a HUGE Disappoinment on 9-12-9

Postby Arn P. » September 12th, 2009, 2:02 pm

After seeing the announcement on the front page of the Prescott Courier earlier this past week, I expected some fabulous coverage of the Prescott Tea Party's Memorial for America held on Friday, September 11 on the Prescott Courthouse Square. I should have known better. Their coverage of this well produced event consisted of a crappy photograph and the following narrative: "Friday night closed with a 9/11 gathering of the Prescott tea Party on the Courthouse Steps." The editors of the Prescott and Bradshaw Mountain High Schools' student newspapers could have covered our Memorial in a more professional manner.

I was tempted to cancel my subscription to the Courier after they decided not to cover our August 22 meeting, but was dissuaded from doing so after hearing of promised better coverage from Jennifer at the recent 9-11 Memorial planning meeting. Not knowing the timetable for finalizing Saturday's Courier's layout, I will wait for the Sunday Courier before making any decisions about my subscription.

It seems obvious that this newspaper in utilizing tactics demonstrated by the national media as a whole. This is not a community representation of major events such as the 911 gathering, but a stroking of the general public in topics of little weight and trivial content. General news is a no brainer. To report true levels of public involvement and interest in major events is a no brainer. Not to do so is an obvious slight and an effort to hush the public voice. This is the liberal media national tactic and the Courier is a synchophant to that base.
You do not have that many local people representing local opinion, participating in local political conversation so energetically and enthuastically in a town this small and be ignored by our laughingly local oriented press. Unless there is an agenda that is, to supress them for politically motivated reasons, to counter the event and rationalize the significance of it in the direction of insignificance.
We need a local newspaper that is willing to get involved in this dire situation our country is in. It is inexcusable to ignore the plight of Americans, particularly local ones, that see the Socialist agenda and object to it, that see the degradation of our Constitution and object to it, that see the irresponsibility of our government and object to it.
Anyone out there know how to put a small publication in print?
