Following is a copy of an email I sent to Ann Kirkpatrick. It will be interesting to see if I ever hear back.

Message Text: Please do not vote for any legislation that includes a "Public Option." Being a retired financial representative and insurance salesman, I have seen what happens when people expect to be covered for their health problems. Many times I have had people wanting to apply for disability insurance AFTER they were injured. And, people who were recently diagnosed with cancer or had a heart attact now want to apply for the insurance. I have not seen anything that would indicate that people would not be prohibited from not paying a premium until they were diagnosed with a health problem. If people can wait intil they are ill, who pays the premiums to keep the insurance company in business? Seems to me that the only way this could work is for taxes to be raised on everyone paying taxes to cover those who refuse to pay premiums. Or, health care would have be rationed to make up the difference in cost. If there are truly 49 million un-insured that the government would have to cover, where are all the additional doctors and other health care workers going to come from? This potential legislation is poorly thought out and unworkable, both in cost and implementation. Thank you. I am a registered voter.
